Announcing New Printer in Residence, Currently Accepting Applicants

Flemington DIY has named Mariah McLaughlin as their first Printer in Residence of 2025. Mariah is a New Jersey based ceramicist and printmaker currently exploring miniature wheel thrown ceramics, using scale as a way to draw new focus on a medium that’s been used throughout time. In a new body of work, she again draws focus to clay by imposing printed textures and photographs through the use of screen printing, treating the ceramic as a canvas.

Supported by Flemington DIY’s weekly Print Club, the Printers in Residence program supports local artists whose work will focus on critical perspectives in contemporary printmaking. Participants are encouraged to develop a cohesive body of work throughout their residency as they will have regular access to studio space and a fun community of weirdo art makers, culminating in a show at the end of their term.

McLaughlin’s work has also focused on all things miniature. From jars, vases, and even teapots, she uses scale to draw attention to everyday items and subverts value and functionality. Mariah’s miniatures are an exercise in sweating the small stuff to prove that there is beauty and awe to be found in oft overlooked details. Her miniature work has been on display at the Philadelphia Airport and the Art Council of Princeton’s “Steep” teapot exhibition. She can be found on Instagram at @nevermore.artworks.

The Printers in Residence program is currently accepting applications on a rolling basis, with more information at flemingtondiy.org/printclub
