Life is becoming increasingly hectic. Screens replace windows, bright lights replace natural warmth, flashing images provide a marketplace of endless loops of nugatory information. So why stop? Keep the content flowing. Reward your eyes: your receptors to the world around you; the world you’ve created; the world we’ve all inherited and are momentarily trapped in. Interested? Intrigued? Provide yourself a much-needed recess to your overworked, under-served brain, and absorb stimulating works by Jeff Hersch, Barbara McGrath, Ant Palma, Annie Pollock, Gillian Smith, and Ugly.
Opening Reception: Saturday, May 4, 7-9PM
Donations accepted, snacks provided, both are optional.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Jeff Hersch [@perfectshambles]
In his debut art show, Hersch provides analog collages for the modern being.
Barbara McGrath [@barbmcgrath]
Starting 7 years ago through an art form called Zentangle, McGrath made it her own over the years. Working mostly with black and white line work, she’s recently branched out to colored pencils and watercolor.
Ant Palma
For Anthony Palma, photographs help to remember a time, place or feeling. The images act as a mechanism of remembrance for the artist, not only by the images themselves but everything outside of the frame as well. Those who surrounded him or what he was doing in that minute are solidified with each photograph. The images are of the everyday but only portray a segment of what they represent to the artist and are left up to the viewer to connect their own thoughts or feelings in each individual interpretation.
Annie Pollock [@anniepollock_]
www.ampollock.com
Annie Pollock graduated from Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts in the class of 2016. She graduated with BFA with a concentration in photography, and also a minor in art history. Pollock uses photography and collage to further her interests of an ethereal femininity by bringing a playful nature to her images. The content of her work nurtures conversation of female empowerment, showcasing an intimate and inclusive network of subjects ranging from the informative to the satirical, from sexual health to toxic masculinity.
Gillian Smith
Graduating senior of the Mason Gross sculpture program, Gillian Smith has focused on plush in her recent practice. Working with the idea of a universal comfort, her recent venture into large scale stuffed objects aims to bring physically engaging sculpture into your personal sphere.
Ugly [@uglytrash666]
www.ugly6.format.com
Demolition and reconstruction of human and object morphology in saturated colors and bold lines. Portraying the body in a linear form through segmentation and magnification brings forth the crude and ugly. Bright colors, bold lines, bad words.
