About the Instructor

Calvin Hui is an open style dancer that has been training for over 10 years. He has trained in different dance styles including house, hip hop, vogue femme, waacking, popping, and open style choreography. Calvin enjoys exploring different forms of gender expression within dance, and is not afraid to draw forth a masculine or feminine persona. He believes dance is about exploring the limitless ways of expressing through your body, and sees dance as a way to get in touch with yourself. Over the years, Calvin has been in multiple collegiate and community dance crews, with whom he has entered countless showcases and competitions. Solo, Calvin has battled in open style dance battles throughout the East Coast. His goal is to introduce new dancers to the joy of open style dance, in hopes that they’ll find new ways to express themselves and help them grow as dancers.
