December 14, 2024: Rio Bossa
Rio Bossa performs traditional Latin, jazz, popular, and original music in a unique and sensuous style, weaving soulful melodies and savory Latin rhythms. Rio Bossa’s catalog is inspired by diverse Latin traditional, folk and popular music including bossanova, samba, baiao, bolero, choro, and others.
The quartet collectively contribute more than a century of musical expression and experience. Guitarist Jorge Torres brings deep ethnomusicological expertise and arranging abilities, and specializes in a distinctive fingerpicked nylon guitar style. Vocalist Alyssa Lou Allen is a stunning and mesmerizing performer, pulling from her varied indie/soul/R&B and musical theater experience, as well as performing in several different languages. Bassist Steve Foreman holds down the bottom, and the top, on 6-string bass as well as penning several original songs for Rio Bossa. With a musical career spanning many genres, drummer/percussionist William Weisbach propels deep, dynamic grooves with flair and color from a sui generis hybrid cocktail kit.
Rio Bossa captivates audiences in various lounge, festival, and concert settings, and has been featured on WFMZ-TV and public radio WDIY. For more information, dates, and recordings, visit riobossa.qexam.com
